Investigating the Relationship Between Interpersonal Sensitivities and Antagonism, Detachment, and Negative Affectivity

For her honours thesis, Annie investigated how the maladaptive personality traits Antagonism, Detachment, and Negative Affectivity relate to interpersonal sensitivities — the specific behaviours of others most likely to cause emotional distress. Combining clinical and general personality measures via confirmatory factor analysis in a sample of 413, and using the Structural Summary Method, she mapped the distinct interpersonal-sensitivity signature of each trait and found the relationships were largely linear rather than curvilinear — underscoring the need for measures that capture a broader range of personality functioning.
