Psychometric Scale Development
ActiveBuilding and validating open-source psychological measures — from item generation through factor analysis (EFA/CFA), reliability, and construct validation — so researchers and clinicians have rigorous, freely available instruments.
Good psychological science depends on good measurement. This program covers the lab’s work developing and validating self-report instruments end to end: writing and refining items, establishing factor structure through exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, testing reliability and construct validity, and releasing the finished measures openly.
Student projects in this strand include the Bodily Sensations Response Scale (BSRS), which captures how people cognitively, emotionally, and behaviourally respond to everyday bodily sensations, and work shortening the Two-Dimensional Machiavellianism Scale while extending its nomological network. Together with the lab’s broader instrument work, they reflect a commitment to measurement tools that are psychometrically sound and available to everyone.
