Masters Research Team: A Comparison of Careless Responding Scales for Psychological Research
As a member of the 2026 Master of Professional Psychology research team, Ari is helping to develop an open-source validity scale which researchers can append to any online survey. This scale will serve as a tool for researchers to screen out inconsistent and low-effort responding, therefore improving the quality of psychological data and confidence in survey findings.
The team are aiming to achieve this by comparing the effectiveness of existing careless-response detection methods in an online survey. The scale includes both pre- and post-hoc measures in its items, alongside other scales: the DASS-21, UWES-9, and AAAW.
